We focus on wood species native to Alaska’s boreal and coastal forests. Each has distinct characteristics that make it ideal for specific applications:

1. Sitka Spruce

  • Uses: Aircraft construction, musical instruments, framing lumber, and trim

  • Qualities: Lightweight, strong, straight grain, excellent resonance

  • Availability: Dimensional lumber, specialty cuts

2. Western Hemlock

  • Uses: Framing, paneling, doors, furniture, millwork

  • Qualities: Fine-grained, uniform texture, moderate strength and hardness

  • Availability: Dimensional lumber, beams, clear grades

3. Alaska Yellow Cedar

  • Uses: Exterior siding, boat building, bridges, decking, shingles

  • Qualities: Naturally rot-resistant, aromatic, high density

  • Availability: Custom timbers, siding, trim

4. Western Red Cedar

  • Uses: Outdoor structures, paneling, furniture, fencing

  • Qualities: Lightweight, aromatic, decay-resistant, easy to work with

  • Availability: Boards, beams, siding

5. Cottonwood (Black Cottonwood)

  • Uses: Plywood cores, pulp, pallets, furniture

  • Qualities: Soft, lightweight, good for non-structural uses

  • Availability: Boards, rough cuts, pulp logs

6. Paper Birch

  • Uses: Veneer, cabinetry, interior trim, furniture

  • Qualities: Pale, attractive grain, moderately hard and strong

  • Availability: Sawn boards, veneers

7. Alder (Red Alder)

  • Uses: Cabinets, doors, furniture, musical instruments

  • Qualities: Smooth grain, light reddish hue, stable when dry

  • Availability: Custom sizes, clear grades

8. Mountain Ash & Other Native Hardwoods

Available in smaller quantities or by special order for niche applications like cabinetry, tool handles, and decorative features.

Dimensional Sizes

  • Standard Construction Lumber: 2x4 through 2x12

  • Beams & Timbers: 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, and up

  • Boards: 1x4 to 1x12, random widths and lengths

  • Custom Millwork: Tongue and groove, shiplap, siding profiles

We kiln dry or air dry to specification and provide surfaced or rough-sawn finishes.
